BBC's The Musketeers

With both rusty_armour and greenhoodloxley praising The Musketeers, I thought I'd give the series another chance. I decided to leave episode 1 and go straight on to episode 2. I've just watched all the epsiodes in an evening and a morning and enjoyed them. I particularly like Athos and Aramis, the Queen and King Louis. The action is varied and exciting. At times the series comes across as a 17th C Western.

I still have yet to see it, as it doesn't premiere on TV here until June 22nd, so I'm really glad to hear you giving it a thumbs up too! At least it gives me something to look forward to, there's hardly anything good to watch lately. :/

I haven't bothered to switch on my television for ages. It's strange that such a law-abiding person as I should watch programmes illegally! But I probably would only get to see them otherwise if they were released for hire because nothing good comes out on the ordinary channels. I'm reluctant to subscribe to the pay channel or to get a satellite dish and pay an even larger subscription because it's not worth it. I'd rather pay a high subscription for a decent Internet connection! Anyway, I think you'll enjoy The Musketeers. :)

The show doesn't have the best writing in the world, but I think it's fun. Of course, I'm usually a sucker for a bit of swash and buckle. *g*

I have to admit that I pretty much watch it for Treville and Athos. I do like the premise, though. And I think it's great that we get to see a bit of life in the Musketeers barracks and some palace intrigue. Oh, and I agree with you about it coming across as a 17th century Western.

I hope you enjoy the rest of the series. I'll be watching the fifth episode tonight. :-)

It's not great drama, but it's fun, as you say. I think the swash and buckle is pretty good!

Yay! So glad you're enjoying it! I agreed it does have a very swashbuckling, western sort of feel. *loves that* Aramis & Anne, and Athos are probably my favorites. Though I really am enjoying all the musketeers.

It's good that we can share again a series that we like. I didn't like D'Artagnan in the first episode, but I've got over that. I thought the series might focus on him, but fortunately all the Musketeers are well featured.
