I've been re-reading Diana Wynne Jones' books for the umpteenth time. Howl's Moving Castle is my favourite still. I was lucky to find her last book, The Islands of Chaldea in a bookshop. It was finished by her sister, Ursula Jones. It's set in a world something like that of the Dalemark Quartet, but not as dark. I enjoyed it.

I also bought the last Discworld book by Terry Pratchett, The Shepherd's Crown. It's a Tiffany Aching book, with the Nac Mac Feegles and Elves. Terry Pratchett's Elves are terrible creatures. It's a good book, up to Pratchett's high standards. It has sadness in it as well being sad in itself because it is the last Discworld book and the last book by Terry Pratchett. I like his new character, Geoffrey, who wants to be a witch and is a vegetarian and humanitarian. The cat You is also featured. Well worth buying.

I snatched up a book on sale as well, found I already had it, but I read it again with enjoyment. It's a book written for teenagers, but is also great for older adults who like inventive and original fantasy. It's Gideon the Cutpurse by Linda Buckley-Archer and it's followed by The Tarman, which I bought first. I haven't found the third and last book yet. The novels are set partly in modern times and partly in 18th century England, with some fascinating characters.

It's great that you've been able to read and re-read such a wonderful selection of books. I'm massively behind with my reading, but I'll have to look for some of these books in future. I especially like the sound of the Linda Buckley-Archer books.

I didn't read much for a couple of months, rather playing on the Internet, but I'm suddenly back into reading. But still no writing!

The Linda Buckley-Archer books have a fresh take on time-traveling by accident!

Go you! I haven't had time to read anything but fanfic in over a year. Hopefully that will change this winter. :)

I haven't read much fanfic lately. One writer I liked limited her stories on Archive of Our Own to members only and I haven't tried to apply for membership.

I hope you have time to read this winter with Romeo and Juliet!

I love Howl's Moving Castle though I haven't gotten around to reading the other books in the series.

The Linda Buckley-Archer books sound really familiar though I don't think I've read them. I'll have to have a look for them. I love rereading books I've enjoyed previously. One of my favorite things to do.

The other two books in the Howl series aren't as good and Howl and Sophie aren't the main characters. Castle in the Air has a partly Arabic setting and characters. I prefer House of Many Ways.

I too love rereading books. It can be comforting, but I also notice things anew each time.
