Beltane

Beltane is a Celtic festival celebrating the beginning of summer, on the evening of 30 April and the first of May. Bonfires were lit and cattle driven through them to protect them from disease before they were led into summer pastures. There was also, of course, feasting, dancing, etc.

I love your description of Beltane and the image you've chosen! May your own Beltane be a happy celebration! :-)

Thanks! It's a bit difficult to celebrate a spring festival when it's autumn here! I did dance, but fires aren't allowed in my block of flats. A bonfire for Beltane wouldn't go down well. As for livestock, my efforts to herd the local guinea fowl were futile!
