Imbolc

February 1 is the Celtic festival of Imbolc, halfway between the Winter Solstice and the Spring Equinox, which marks the beginning of the end of winter in the Northern Hemisphere. It became the Christian St. Brigid's day in Ireland.

If only it did mark the end of winter in the Northern Hemisphere. I fear there's at least a month & a half to go -- assuming there isn't snow in late March or early April...Sorry. SAD hit me pretty hard this week. *g* Happy Imbolc to you. Thanks once again for providing such an informative post. :-)

Well, it's supposed to be the "beginning" of the end!

I'm sorry to hear that you've had a bad bout of SAD. :o( Cheer up soon! :o)

It's actually been better the last two or three days because the sun's been out. That means less darkness and a higher barometric pressure. I can even live with the freezing temperatures if it means we see the sun. :-)
