Oooooh! Thanks for the link! I'll have to check out that community! :-)

I stupidly forgot to tell you that I finished watching the third series of Merlin and absolutely loved it! I was literally jumping up and down with glee when I saw how many Arthurian elements (e.g. the Round Table, the Lady of the Lake) would be featured in the finale! :-)

I'm glad you enjoyed the third series. Some fans were disappointed. There were some things that I disliked, such as swirking Morgana, but overall I enjoyed the series.

My favourite is Eye of the Phoenix because it is like a traditional Arthurian quest with Merlin's idiosyncratic interpretation.

Actually Evil Morgana was one of the things I enjoyed most -- her and Morgause. I agree with you about Eye of the Phoenix. Well...I had some issues with the knightly vigil, but seeing a traditional Arthurian quest was great and I loved the inclusion of the Fisher King and the revelation about the true nature of the quest.

I didn't dislike evil Morgana, but I think her evil could have been more subtly conveyed than by constant evil looks and smirks.

What issues did you have with the knightly vigil? Mine is that it takes place in the throne room, instead of a chapel or temple or at a shrine to whatever gods.

Ah, yes. I see your point. Yes, I'm amazed that more people didn't work it out based on the unsubtle body language alone. Hell, Gwen did figure it out because she caught Morgana smiling when she was sentenced to be executed! *g*

I think I was just disappointed because it was set up to look like a proper knightly vigil with the cleansing, white robes, and prayer, and then it turned out to be something totally different. I guess Arthur was already a knight at that point, so I shouldn't have expected it, but it would have been cool if all of that was leading to the traditional knighting ceremony.

I think the problem is that we don't know what religion Camelot has embraced. I assume it isn't Christianity as I can't remember seeing any crosses or churches (but maybe I'm wrong). Some form of Paganism seems more likely, though I can't ever remember any gods being mentioned. From what I can tell, the one form of worship embraced by Camelot is the hatred of magic and persecution of sorcerers. *g*

I was also disappointed because I expected something more. Arthur is already a knight and has been proclaimed crown prince, but the writers could have thought of some other ceremony if it was 'one of the most important moments in a prince's life.'
